The blackbird has landed. Naples’ most highly anticipated restaurant is now open. Blackbird Modern Asian officially opened its doors to the public today. We were fortunate enough to try this incredible new culinary experience last night, and we have your inside scoop.
Our Night at Blackbird Modern Asian โ Naplesโ Hottest New Dining Spot
Before we even walked into Blackbird Modern Asianโs new Naples location, we knew we were in for something special. The first thing we noticed was a towering bronze Buddha headโbold, serene, and totally eye-catching. It immediately set the tone for what became one of the most visually stunning dining experiences weโve had in Naples.
Inside, the ambiance struck a perfect balance between modern sophistication and moody elegance. Deep reds, sleek lines, and dramatic lighting created a space that felt upscale yet inviting. One of the most unique touches? Life-size, glowing trees that slowly shift colors, casting a soft, dreamlike glow over the room. It sounds dramaticโand it isโbut in the best possible way.
We were especially drawn to a beautiful mural filled with colorful florals and butterflies. It brought a burst of energy to the space and added a playful, artistic vibe that felt fresh and vibrant. The restaurant is cleverly divided into multiple dining areas, so whether youโre on a date night, celebrating with friends, or just out for a great meal, thereโs a spot that fits the mood.
A Feast to Remember at Blackbird Modern Asian โ Bold Flavors, Beautifully Done
If the atmosphere at Blackbird Modern Asian drew us in, the food made sure we never wanted to leave.
We started our evening with a few small plates, and right away, the flavors told us this wasnโt your average Asian fusion spot. Every dish felt deliberately crafted, not just cooked. The crispy rice tuna was a standout: delicate yet packed with flavor, with just the right amount of crunch and heat.ย
We also tried the Chinese BBQ Short Ribs, which I instinctively picked up my knife to cut, but it was not needed. They shredded apart easily with my fork because they were so incredibly tender.
From there, things only got better. We shared a few mains, including the miso-glazed cod, which came perfectly cooked with a silky texture and a rich, umami-packed glaze. It was balanced, elegant, and absolutely worth the hype. We couldn’t believe it was cod! The steak lomein noodles had a warming depth, full of spice, and the char-grilled skirt steak? Tender, bold, and beautifully charred.
Each plate was as stunning as it was flavorfulโplated like artwork, but not overdone. You could tell the kitchen has fun with creativity, but never loses sight of the fundamentals.
Of course, we couldnโt skip dessert. The yuzu key lime parfait was light and citrusy, with just enough tartness to keep things interesting. And letโs just say we may have fought over the last bite.
Craft Cocktails with a Twistย
As much as we were wowed by the food and ambiance at Blackbird Modern Asian, the cocktailsย
absolutely held their ownโand honestly, they were an experience all on their own.
We kicked things off with a round from their signature cocktail list, and right away, we could tell this wasnโt your typical bar program. Each drink was as visually striking as it was flavorfulโgarnished with precision, served in beautiful glassware, and designed to spark conversation.
We had to get the “Blackbird” for the photo op- but it ended up being more than just that. It was as delicious as it was aesthetically appealing. This twist on an espresso martini uses Amaro Lucana, chai, rich cold brew, and is topped with an incredibly decadent vanilla cream. Of course, true to the restaurant’s artistic flair, it wouldn’t be complete without an activated charcoal blackbird and a chocolate fortune cookie.
Everything from the cocktails to the sides felt thoughtfully executed. The menu has this effortless rangeโfrom refined and elegant to comforting and boldโmaking it easy to find something that hits the spot, whether youโre a die-hard foodie or just looking for a great night out.
