Bonita Springs Approves $17.8M East Terry Street Improvement Project

  • Reading time:2 mins read

The City of Bonita Springs has taken a significant step forward in enhancing local infrastructure with the approval of a $17.8 million construction contract for the East Terry Street improvement project. This major investment reflects the city’s continued focus on transportation upgrades, flood mitigation, and long-term community development.

A Major Infrastructure Upgrade

The East Terry Street project will improve a key corridor stretching from Old 41 Road to Bonita Grande Drive—an area that plays an important role in connecting residential neighborhoods and supporting future growth. Planned enhancements include roadway reconstruction, upgraded stormwater systems, new sidewalks, and multi-use pathways designed to improve both safety and accessibility.

A roundabout is also planned at Morton Avenue, aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in the area. These improvements are expected to benefit both daily commuters and nearby residents while supporting the city’s broader mobility goals.

Funding

A large portion of the project funding is tied to federal mitigation efforts, emphasizing resilience against flooding and severe weather events. By modernizing drainage infrastructure and roadway design, the city aims to reduce flood risks while improving overall roadway durability.

This focus on resiliency is especially important in Southwest Florida, where infrastructure must be designed to withstand heavy rainfall and storm impacts.

What It Means for Real Estate

Infrastructure projects of this scale often have a direct impact on surrounding property values and development activity. Improved roadways, pedestrian connectivity, and drainage systems can make nearby neighborhoods more attractive to both homebuyers and investors.

For Bonita Springs, the East Terry Street improvements signal continued growth and a commitment to enhancing quality of life—two factors that play a key role in sustaining a strong real estate market.
