Sandbox VR recently opened in Gulf Coast Town Center in Fort Myers. We were invited to experience it for ourselves, and we had a blast- no pun inteded!

Sandbox VR is a relatively new company that is bringing a multiplayer virtual reality experience to locations across the country. While many virtual reality games are hosted online and can be played from home, Sandbox offers a more immersive experience that can be shared with friends and family.

The Experience

Book Your Timeslot

To book an experience, you will first visit their website to book a time and choose which game you would like to play. They offer a variety of experiences, including Seekers of Chard, Squid Game, Rebel Moon, Ultimate Fighting League, and more, with new games being added often. We chose Deadwood Phobia, a first-person shooter zombie game!

Get Suited Up

After you check in, your host will bring you to the gear room, where you will be suited with gear that tracks your movements in the game. You will be fitted with a vest and sensors on each of your wrists and ankles. This is also when you will get to select your weapon! The weapons vary based on the game, but typically have an option to upgrade for a small fee. After that, you’ll be escorted into a private room with your friends and family. Your host will give you a headset and microphone, and you will be transported into the game.

 

Step Into an Alternate Reality

Inside the game, you will see your friends and family alongside you. You can move around the room safely, just avoiding the red lines in the game that correspond with the walls in the real world. The graphics are great, and the trackers are ultra-responsive, which will make you feel like you are really there! Each session is 40 minutes, but time flies when you are having fun!

Watch Your Highlight Reel

After the game, you’ll get to see your scoreboard and watch a few fun highlight reels of your experience. The reels are emailed to each player in a variety of formats so you can share your experience online.

We had such a blast at Sanbox VR Fort Myers, and we can not wait to go back and try another game! New games are always being added, so you will always have something new to try!
