A new destination for shopping, dining and living is taking shape across from Coconut Point, and the latest update includes plans for a national organic grocer.
Woodfield Estero, the approximately 46-acre mixed-use development at the northwest corner of U.S. 41 and Coconut Road, is now under construction. Developers FRP Development Corp. and Woodfield Development announced in August that vertical construction had begun on the project’s first phase.
A National Organic Grocer Could Anchor the Project
According to the Village of Estero’s summary of its September 15 Planning, Zoning & Design Board meeting, Woodfield is proposing a national organic grocer as an anchor tenant as part of changes to its master concept plan.
The grocery chain’s name has not been publicly disclosed in the available announcements. For
now, the update identifies a proposed grocery anchor without confirming a specific brand or opening date.

What Is Being Built First at Woodfield Estero?
The first phase is expected to include approximately 296 apartments in three- and four-story buildings, along with approximately 30,000 square feet of retail space. The first residences are anticipated to be ready in the third quarter of 2027. That timeline applies to the initial homes, rather than the opening of the entire development.

A Walkable Town Center Across From Coconut Point
The developers’ latest announcement describes a walkable town center combining homes, shopping, dining, offices and a hotel. At full buildout, plans call for approximately 600 apartments, 80,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 square feet of office space and a 190-room boutique hotel.
Earlier plans also outlined a pedestrian restaurant row and a central green with an outdoor stage for events, creating spaces where residents and visitors could gather. Individual restaurant and retail names remain details to watch as the development progresses.
