Updated September 10, 2026 A new beachfront dining and entertainment destination is moving forward on the south end of Fort Myers Beach! The owners of the former Wyndham property received final approval from the Fort Myers Beach Town Council on Wednesday, September 9, for a two-phase redevelopment featuring a tiki-style restaurant and bar, outdoor entertainment and, in a later phase, a pool and lazy river.
The property is located at 6890 Estero Boulevard, across from Fort Myers Beach Town Hall. It is separate from the former Outrigger Beach Resort property farther north on Estero Boulevard.
For anyone wondering whether the Wyndham hotel is coming back, there are no plans to rebuild a hotel as part of this project. The approved redevelopment focuses on dining, recreation, entertainment and parking.
Phase One: Beachfront Tiki Dining and Live Entertainment
The first phase centers on an approximately 11,200-square-foot tiki-style pole barn, with a restaurant and bar beneath the structure. Covered outdoor seating will give guests a shaded place to gather, and the plans include space for live entertainment.
Initially, six mobile trailers will support food and beverage service. Outdoor service, including alcohol, will also be allowed throughout the recreation areas.
Phase One includes 163 parking spaces, with paid parking available on the property.
The combination of beachfront dining, covered seating and live entertainment could bring a welcome gathering place back to this stretch of the island.
Phase Two: Permanent Restaurant, Pool and Lazy River
The proposed second phase would add a wave-dissipation wall and replace the mobile vending trailers with a permanent restaurant built within the tiki pole barn structure.
With the trailers removed, the restaurant and entertainment layout would be adjusted to a maximum of approximately 11,500 square feet. That figure covers the restaurant and entertainment area; the 11,200-square-foot figure for Phase One describes the tiki structure itself.
The recreation area would expand to approximately 21,500 square feet, with plans calling for a swimming pool and lazy river. Parking would increase to 237 total spaces, including paid parking.
If you’re already picturing an afternoon floating along the beach, keep in mind that the pool and lazy river belong to the proposed second phase. They are not part of the initial tiki restaurant and bar phase.
Planned Operating and Live Entertainment Hours
The plans call for the property to operate from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with amplified sound allowed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Those hours would accommodate daytime visits and evening dining and entertainment. A specific live music schedule has not been included in the latest update.
Final Town Council Approval Received
The Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency previously voted 6–1 in favor of the project. The Town Council then granted final approval on September 9. The 6–1 vote refers to the LPA recommendation, not the Council’s final vote.
The redevelopment request also included seven deviations from the Town’s Land Development Code.
This marks a significant change from our original July report, when the project still needed to complete the Town Council approval process.
When Will the Former Wyndham Property Reopen?
The latest approval update does not provide a construction start date or an opening date for either phase. Final approval is a major milestone, but we’ll have to wait for more details on when visitors can enjoy the new venue—and when the proposed pool and lazy river could follow.
For now, the plans offer a look at how this beachfront property could become an active part of Fort Myers Beach again, with places to eat, enjoy live entertainment and spend time outdoors.
