A new vision for two prominent properties in the heart of Times Square could bring an exciting new multi-level destination to the area.

Property owner Shlomo Melloul has submitted redevelopment plans for the former sites of Plaka Restaurant and Pete’s Time Out, two well-known locations that have long been part of the beach’s vibrant downtown scene.

The proposal includes a three-story building topped with a rooftop bar, designed to add new dining, retail, and public amenities to the Times Square district.

Planned Features of the New Building

According to the plans designed by MHK Architecture, the ground floor would serve both visitors and local vendors. Plans call for rentable storage spaces for street vendor kiosks, helping support the small businesses that contribute to the lively atmosphere of Times Square. The ground level would also include public amenities, such as a shaded rest station on the west side and a public water station on the east side.

Visitors would access the upper levels through glass-enclosed elevators and open staircases located at both ends of the building, providing convenient access while maintaining open views of the surrounding area.

The second floor would feature retail space overlooking Times Square, offering shops with a prime location in one of the most visited areas of the beach.

Above that, the third floor is planned as a restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining areas, giving guests elevated views of the bustling square below.

At the top, the development would be capped by a rooftop bar, designed to provide a unique vantage point and another gathering spot in the center of the beach district.

Continued Evolution of the Beach District

As Fort Myers Beach continues its recovery and redevelopment, proposals like this highlight the ongoing investment and vision for the island’s most iconic gathering place. While the plans will still go through the review and approval process, the project reflects the broader effort to reimagine and revitalize the Times Square area for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.

For those who live, work, and invest on Fort Myers Beach, the future of Times Square remains an exciting story to watch.
