On February 7th, Bonita Springs City Council contracted Wright Construction Group to develop a concept and design plans for the Banyan Tree Square Splash Pad. On February 19th, Wright Construction presented the final design and sught approval from City Council members.
A stunning water feature, or splash pad, anchors Wright Construction’s final design for the Banyan Tree Square property across from Riverside Park. On warm days, children will enjoy running through the splash pad while parents can look on from the surrounding shaded pavilions and benches. In the evening, LED lights will turn the splash pad into a beautiful water feature as visitors explore Downtown Bonita Spring’s newfound nightlife.
The design calls for the new paved walking path surrounding the splash pad and a complete landscaping overhaul. A variety of palm trees and other tropical plants will be perfectly placed around the park with colorful uplighting. Our incredible Bonita Banyan will also get LED-uplighting, making sure her beauty can be seen even after the sun sets. The plans will also add some, much-needed, public parking and bathrooms to our downtown.

City Council unanimously approved the final design. Wright Construction will now finalize the design details and draft up a construction bid. The bid is estimated to be complete by late spring or early summer. The City of Bonita Springs already has a $2.5 M budget for this project. Once the bid is awarded, construction can begin. If all goes according to plan, construction could start as early as this fall.
Final Design Presentation for the Banyan Tree Square Splash Pad:
Our Take
We have been following this development since 2023 and we are excited to see this project finally coming to life. We think this will be an incredible addition to our downtown. The Banyan Tree Square is currently very dark at night and the lighting alone will be a huge improvement. Our beautiful Banyan deserves to be seen after the sun sets.
As young families move to Bonita Springs, there is a growing demand for kid-friendly activities. This design is a perfect way to add some fun for the little ones without compromising the aesthetics of our downtown. In fact, it will only add to the landscape at night.
