Bold and Beautiful: Home Design Trends of 2024

  • Reading time:5 mins read

The theme connecting all home design trends of 2024 is letting our personalities shine through our homes. We’re swapping grays for our favorite colors, letting the outdoors in, adding texture to our walls, and decorating with things that make us happy. Our home is an extension of ourselves. We are all so unique and 2024 is all about embracing it in our homes too! While trying different styles is fun, we don’t care to keep up with the Jones’s. That is why we LOVE these home design trends because they can be tailored to your style!

Here are our favorite home design trends of 2024:

Home design trends of 2024: biophilic design

Biophilic Design

Let the outside in! Biophilic design is all about embracing nature and the outdoors. We’re seeing TONS of indoor plants and even some super-fun living walls in homes lately. Adding some flora to your home can help not only add color and texture, but also filter the air in your home! Easy-to-care-for plants like pothos and snake plants are both beautiful plants that will improve your air quality while adding some style. If you don’t have a green thumb, don’t worry! You can still bring nature into your home by adding faux or dried plants, letting in more sunlight, using furniture and accent pieces made with natural materials, and playing with colors inspired by the outdoors. This design can look so different from home to home. If your style is light and coastal, try some tropical plants, bamboo accents, and shells! If you like a dark, moody vibe, incorporate some trailing plants, deep greens, and warm woods.

Home Design Trends of 2024: maxmalism

Maximalist Design

Maximalism is all about letting your personality shine through your design- but it can be one of the hardest styles to master! Maximalism emphasizes bold colors, textures contrast, and lots of different decor. Maximalism often combines decor from a variety of styles. Think of a bright retro couch with vintage artwork along with your favorite modern vinyls and books on display. While a minimalist style looks perfectly styled and untouched, a maximalist design looks lived in and enjoyed.  This style of design can easily look cluttered and chaotic if not done properly. However, incorporating some of this design’s principles can add the perfect amount of flare to your style!

The main thing to take away from this design is to not be afraid to go bold and mix different styles. Paint that wall blue! Buy the green couch and giant piece of art you’ve been eyeing! You do not have to follow one style of design. A home that incorporates different styles tells a story about the people that live there.

Bye, Bye Gray & Hello COLOR!

Now, don’t look around at your gray walls or kitchen cabinets and think you need to head to Sherwin-Williams. Most designers will actually suggest gray and white walls for people who love color because it makes it easier to add through decor. While bold accent walls are definitely in (check out this Guide to The 2024 Colors of the Year), you can still easily add pops of color with accent chairs, throw pillows, blankets, vases/pottery and art! In the kitchen, we are seeing lots of colored cabinets. Mossy green and navy blue cabinets have been popping up in newly renovated homes. If you are looking to renovate your kitchen on a budget, some cabinet paint and new hardware might be all you need!

Textured Accent Walls

Textured walls can be subtle, bold, or anywhere in between. For a more subtle accent, you can try a muted plaster-finish paint or simple grassweave wallpaper. If you want to kick it up a notch, a board and batten wall is a classic, simple way to elevate a space. If you want to go bold, the options are endless! There are SO many fun ways to add texture to your walls with trim and wallpaper. Need some inspiration? Check out these textured accent wall ideas!
