At a meeting on Wednesday (8/5/2020) Bonita Springs City Council voted on two land changes, as well as a rezoning. These changes will make it possible for three massive new developments to begin construction.

Barefoot Beach Hotel

Barefoot Beach Hotel

Barefoot Beach Hotel will be situated on a 4.75 acre lot on the North side of Bonita Beach Road, just West of Okeana Street.

The 202-room hotel will have a restaurant and retail space incorporated into the 2-building design. There will also be a parking garage with 46 spaces reserved for the public, in order to reduce congestion at other beach parking lots. The parking garage will be tucked behind the buildings, not visible from Bonita Beach Road. The developer also promises to have a public shuttle going to the beach and other Bonita Springs attractions.

In addition, up to 20 condos will be available for purchase at the hotel.

Bayview by London Bay Homes (Weeks Fish Camp Property)

Former Weeks Fish Camp Property

After being granted a plan change by City Council, London Bay Homes was able to obtain full approval of their Bayview project.

Once completed, Bayview will be a 300 unit independent living facility and memory care center. The plan includes 5 main buildings with the tallest being 20 stories. There will also be an onsite restaurant for residents and their guests.

Being situated on the former Weeks Fish Camp property, London Bay Homes has agreed to update the marina and boat launch and keep it available for public use. This is a major win for boaters in Estero, who would otherwise have to drive all the way to Lover’s Key to launch a boat.

Raptor Bay Golf Club

While everyone has heard of Raptor Bay Golf Club, some big changes are coming to the property, which is situated in between the Hyatt hotel and the Bayview property.

After several lawsuits, Bonita Springs City Council was forced to rezone the Raptor Bay property. The changes will allow up to 503 residential units new residential units to be built, with towers up to 20 stories.

The plans for this site are have not been submitted yet, but City Council expects London Bay Homes to purchase and develop the lot.
