An In-N-Out Inspired Burger Joint Just Opened in Fort Myers And We Are Freaking Out

  • Reading time:4 mins read

We need to give you a little preface before we begin here. We LOVE In-N-Out burger. If you’re not familiar with this little slice of heaven, allow me to enlighten you. In-N-Out is a West Coast burger chain that serves up the most delicious burgers, fries, and shakes. They are famous for their “Animal Style” option, which smothers your burger, or fires (or both) in their signature sauce. Some compare the sauce to thousand island dressing, but it is so much more. There is only one thing we absolutely hate about In-N-Out burger: the nearest location is 1,259 miles away. It would take us about 18 hours for us to get our hands on anything that could compare to one of those delicious burgers…

Enter Cali Burger. We just about cried happy tears when we heard that CaliBurger was opening a location in Fort Myers. This chain has gained it’s fame from being the only In-N-Out-ish burger joint on the East coast. Its menu was completely inspired by In-N-Out. In fact, the founder actually opened his first restaurant in Shanghai while he was working there because he missed In-N-Out THAT much.

We couldn’t help but be a little skeptical about this place. I mean, claiming to be anything close to In-N-Out is a bold statement. The chain looks a lot like In-N-Out, but more importantly, we had to find out for ourselves if it could truly compare to the taste.

We took a trip to their location in the University Village Shops and were happy to find out that is is located INSIDE Marlins Brewhouse- meaning that we could enjoy a beer with our burger!

We ordered their signature CaliDouble and Cali Style Fries and could barely sit still as we waited for this glorious moment. Our food barley touched the table before we excitedly took our first bite! Y’all. This place is spot on. The burger was a nearly perfect replica of the coveted In-N-Out Double-Double. The restaurant uses 100% lean beef and hand-selected produce for their burgers, and you can really taste the difference. The Cali Style fries were, dare we say, even BETTER than In-N-Out’s Animal Style fries.

The most amazing part of our meal was that a robot helped cook it!  The new Fort Myers location is actually the company’s first “CaliBurger 2.0” restaurant. It is the first to incorporate advanced technology, including Flippy, the burger-flipping, french-fry cooking robot! You can watch Flippy prepare your meal in the kitchen through a glass window. The company also has incorporated self-serve kiosks to place your order with optional PopID, which allows guests to pay with just a smile!

We ate our food at the bar in Marlin’s side of the restaurant, which serves up some awesome craft beers. You can check out the entire list here! We normally go for an IPA but the Funky Buddha Tequila Barrel Margarita Gose with Blood Orange sounded too good to pass up. This beer is DANGEROUS. It is so smooth and refreshing and carries a whopping 11% ABV! Marlins brewhouse also has its own menu which features gator tots, a variety of pretzels, pizza and more! The menu also features a “Testing the Waters” section which includes a selection of rotating kitchen creations. You can see the full menu here! On top of ALL of that, they have live music too!

We were super impressed with this place and can not wait to get back and try some more off the menu!
