A new hotel and condo project is currently going through the Bonita Springs city review process.
Barefoot Beach Hotel is planned on a vacant lot, West of US 41 on Bonita Beach Road, very close to Master Bait and Tackle.
200 hotel rooms, 42 condos, a 300 space parking garage and retail shops will fill the buildings. The parking garage will also allow 42 spaces for public use, with a trolley that will shuttle people to and from the Lee County beach parking lot every hour.
The land is currently owned by the developer, under the name Barefoot Beach Florida, LLC. This LLC shares a California address with Hospman Hospitality Management Services, LLC. Hospman developed the Four Points Sheraton, as well as the Holiday Inn Edison at Midtown, both in Fort Myers.
The proposal is currently very far from final approval. The City of Bonita Springs is currently reviewing all developer documents, from rainwater runoff plans to traffic impact statements. Once that is complete, a meeting with neighboring residents and business owners will be scheduled. From there, zoning approval will be obtained, and finally, City Council approval.
Considering several aspects of the project will need zoning deviations, the developer certainly has a few hurdles to get through yet.
