A new winery is under construction Estero!
R.A.D Corkscrew Winery will be located at 20948 Corkscrew Road, roughly 10 miles east of I-75. The property will be anchored by a 5,000-square-foot building with indoor and outdoor seating, capable of hosting live music.
The owners, Allison and Rockie Rick own a vineyard in Michigan, which is where most of the wines for the new location will come from. While Southwest Florida isn’t ideal for growing grapes, the property does have lots of passion fruit and guava plants that the Ricks plan to incorporate into some new varieties of wine.
R.A.D., which stands for ‘Really Awesome Drinks’, has already released two new wines from their Michigan vineyard, specifically for the new Estero location: the ‘Barrely Oaked Riesling’–a dry and fruity wine, and ‘Cheers,’ a sparkling white wine. The next release is scheduled for June 30th for a wine called ‘Beach Vibe.’
In addition to the fruit trees, the 10-acre parcel will also have about 100 raised beds that customers can rent to grow whatever they’d like. The idea is to give nearby residents the opportunity to grow their own food, since most gated communities do not allow fruit and vegetable gardens.
The Ricks currently own and operate R.A.D. Winery and Cidery at Miromar Outlets in Estero. This location will continue operation after R.A.D. Corkscrew Winery opens in 2024. For more information on the R.A.D. company, visit their website at https://radbunch.com/.
