Black Sheep Coffee Brings a New Standard to Bonita Springs

Black Sheep Coffee is raising the bar for coffee in Bonita Springs, Florida. Located on Old 41, this isn’t just another coffee shop — it’s a one-of-a-kind experience unlike anything else in Southwest Florida. We’ve got the inside scoop on this exciting new coffee concept, plus how you can grab your first cup on us.
The Story Behind Black Sheep Coffee

Founder Fernando Calderon has always loved coffee, but his journey into perfecting its preparation began just over a year ago. After moving with his family to Naples, Fernando searched for a cup of coffee that matched the specialty shops he enjoyed in Orlando. When he couldn’t find it, he decided to create it himself.

Under the mentorship of Didier Higuita — who ranked #6 in the world for his award-winning latte art — Fernando trained as an SCA-certified barista. Over the past year, he has refined his craft alongside Didier, mastering both technique and taste.
We were lucky enough to watch Didier’s latte art in action — cappuccinos as stunning to look at as they were to sip. The flavors were smooth, balanced, and required no sugar or syrups- though they are available!
Oh, and did we mention the latte printer? At Black Sheep Coffee, you can scan a QR code, upload a photo, and watch your dog (or anything you like) appear on your latte foam in just 30 seconds.

The Coffee

For Fernando, the only thing more important than preparation is the quality of the beans. Black Sheep Coffee serves six premium bean varieties — all ranked among the top 20 coffees in the world. Their two espresso options even land in the top four globally.

When you walk into Black Sheep, you’ll be able to smell and sample their beans before choosing your favorite. Each drink is served with a card describing the coffee’s origin and roaster, making every cup an educational experience as well as a treat. Fernando also plans to host tastings and offer coffee flights so guests can explore different flavors.
Not a coffee drinker? You’re covered, too. Black Sheep also serves organic, ceremonial-grade matcha — fittingly named “Baahtcha.”
The Shop

The café itself reflects Fernando’s vision: bright, minimalist, and contemporary, yet warm and welcoming. There’s ample seating indoors and on the outdoor patio, plus table games for guests to borrow. Furry friends are welcome too — with water bowls and treats available. The shop also offers a great selection of merch and Didier’s signature roasted beans for purchase, which have also been ranked among the best in the world.

Fernando wants Black Sheep Coffee to become a true “third place” for the community: not home, not work, but a comfortable space in between.
Alongside their signature drinks, the shop will also serve light meals and snack plates, perfect for pairing with your coffee or matcha.
