Southwest Florida is about to see a major new development take shape. Cameratta Companies, a real estate development firm based in Estero, has officially closed on a massive $92.8 million land deal in southeastern Lee County. The purchase includes around 2,700 acresโmaking it the largest land sale in the region so far this year.
Kingston
The project planned for the site is called Kingston. While full development details are still unfolding, Kingston is expected to be a large-scale, mixed-use residential community, similar in style to Camerattaโs previous work along Corkscrew Road. If their past developments are anything to go by, Kingston will likely feature a blend of single-family homes, multi-family residences, green spaces, and amenities.
Location
The property sits south of State Road 82 and east of Homestead Road, right on the edge of Lehigh Acres. While itโs currently a wide expanse of undeveloped land, the location is expected to become a major residential hub over the coming years.
What Makes This Deal Stand Out?
-
Size: 2,700 acres is equivalent to over 4 square miles. Itโs a major land deal.
-
Strategic location: Southeast Lee County is one of the regionโs fastest-growing areas, with demand for housing, infrastructure, and services all on the rise.
-
Development potential: With zoning approvals still ahead, the property could eventually support thousands of homes, green spaces, and possibly commercial elements too.
Whatโs Next?
While the land deal was finalized on June 5, the Kingston project is still in early stages. Cameratta will need to secure zoning and land-use approvals before any construction can begin. Large developments like this typically unfold in multiple phases, starting with infrastructure (roads, water, electric) before actual homebuilding begins.
Past Projects by Cameratta
Cameratta has been steadily expanding its footprint in Southwest Florida. Its past developmentsโsuch as The Place at Corkscrew and Verdana Villageโhave helped define the Corkscrew corridor as a key area for new growth. With Kingston, they appear to be taking that same formula eastward into a fresh section of Lee County.
Final Thoughts
The Kingston project is more than just a new neighborhoodโit represents a significant shift in our regionโs landscape. As population growth continues to push inland from the coastal cities, large master-planned communities like this one are likely to play a big role in shaping the future of Southwest Florida.
