On October 28th, 2,000 acres of land changed hands for a Southwest Florida record of $620 million.
The Youngquist Brothers Rock Mine has been operating off Alico Road for 25 years, supplying concrete and limestone products to construction sites across the state. In fact, if you live in a concrete block home in Southwest Florida, there’s a good chance the materials came from the Youngquist Brothers mine.
The 2,000-acre land deal encompasses 23 different parcels, netting the Youngquist Brothers $310,000 per acre. Shockingly, no brokers were involved in the record-setting deal.
The new owners, Martin Marietta North Texas Cement, INC, purchased the property for the abundance of limestone in the quarries. They plan keep the mines active for years to come.
