Bonita Springs is investing in the future of its parks — and the results are already taking shape. From upgraded sports facilities to a brand-new aquatic center and major enhancements at beloved community landmarks, the City’s Capital Improvement Projects are designed to elevate recreation, accessibility, and quality of life for residents of all ages.

This update includes information presented during the City of Bonita Springs Capital Improvement Plan workshop held on November 19, 2025, as well as details from the official project presentation.

Baseball Complex: Major Multi-Phase Renovations

The Baseball Complex is seeing one of the most extensive upgrades in the city.

Progress So Far

• Field renovations from Phase 1 and Phase 2 are underway.

• Lighting improvements, updated amenities, and infrastructure repairs are enhancing safety and usability.

Next Steps

Phase 3

• Eight new covered spectator areas — two per field

• ADA-compliant bleachers

• New LED field lighting with remote on/off controls, dimming capability, and performance monitoring

Phase 4

• New paver walkway connecting to Pine Ave

• Two new T-ball fields

• Expanded parking

• Enhanced batting cages

Future Plans

• Bullpens for each field

• More pedestrian walkways connecting to the playground, basketball pavilion, and lake

• Further landscaping enhancements around each field

A Brand-New Community Aquatic Facility

One of the marquee projects in development is the new Community Pool, designed to transform Bonita’s aquatics into a modern, resort-style experience.

Planned Amenities

• Zero-entry kiddie pool with interactive play features

• Resort-style main pool with a lazy river

• Competition lap pool with 8–10 lanes and starting blocks

• New restroom, locker room, and staff office facilities

• Shade structures and enhanced landscaping

• ADA-compliant parking upgrades

A public workshop for this project is scheduled for January 15, 2026, giving residents a chance to provide input on the final design.

Leitner Creek Soccer Complex: New Facilities & Connectivity

The Leitner Creek Soccer Complex is progressing through design and permitting.

Project Highlights

• New parking lot with additional ADA spaces

• Improved sidewalk and paver pathways throughout the park

• A shared restroom, concession, and maintenance facility

• Upgraded utilities

• Landscaping enhancements

• One adult soccer field and two 9v9 youth fields

• Full irrigation and LED field lighting

Riverside Park Bandshell: Community Event Space Revitalized

Phase 1

Completed in October 2025, with improvements to the bandshell structure, restrooms, and surrounding areas.

Phase 2

Currently in final design and permitting. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and continue through November 2026.

When complete, upgrades will include:

• Redesigned bandshell and restroom structures

• A large synthetic-turf event lawn

• Shade sails and expanded seating areas

• Vendor staging zones

• ADA-compliant sidewalks and paver nodes

• Bike parking

• Improved parking configuration

• Stronger connections to the Liles Hotel, Artist Cottages, Depot Park, and Banyan Park

Depot Park

Though this project is in the very early stages, plans are underway to completely overhaul this small playground behind Riverside Park. There has been significant public input about this park due to its condition. City council wants to turn this space into a brand new, much larger “destination playground.”

Liles Hotel Plaza

This project is in the visioning and design-review stage. The goal is to enhance the historic and cultural site into more vibrant, community-oriented gathering areas. Conceptual options were shared, but final plans are still to come.

Banyan Tree Square

The final design for this project was approved in February, and permits have been submitted. The city is navigating a small hurdle with the substation because of its historic designation, but construction is expected to start in February of 2026.
