FDOT Plans to Expand I-75 to 10 Lanes from Lee to Collier County

  • Reading time:1 min read

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced plans to expand Interstate 75, adding lanes between Lee and Collier counties in an effort to ease congestion and improve traffic flow in Southwest Florida.

As the region continues to grow rapidly, this project aims to accommodate increasing demand on one of the area’s most vital corridors. The expansion will include two additional lanes in both directions, enhanced on- and off-ramps, and updated safety features to help reduce bottlenecks and improve commute times. While construction is still in the planning and development stages, residents and commuters can expect phased work to begin in the coming years.

For many locals, this long-awaited project is a welcome response to daily traffic headaches, especially during peak season when the highway often becomes gridlocked. FDOT has emphasized that public input and environmental considerations will be part of the planning process.

We need an on/off ramp at East Terry in Bonita Springs. Way too much traffic with new developments, etc on bonita beach road

I hope FDOT is planning some noise mitigation . Traffic is extremely loud now. More lanes more noise.
