Rooted in Buffalo, New York, Resurgence Brewing Company is aiming to build a brewery and restaurant in South Fort Myers, with an on-site, indoor rock-climbing facility!
The site is located at 6150 Exchange Lane, just East of the intersection of Michael G. Rippe and 6-Mile Cypress Parkway. The 4-acre site is accessible by both of those main roads, which the brewing company found attractive.
Currently, the land is zoned ‘General Commercial District,’ which does not permit the plans that Resurgence Brewing has in store. They will need to rezone the parcel with Lee County to ‘Industrial Planned Development’ in order to pull it off. The founder, Jeff Ware, says there is still tons of work to be done before they can break ground, but they’re hoping to be up-and-running within 2 years.
The only other Resurgence Brewing Company location is in Buffalo, New York. That location is currently brewing about 7,000 barrels per year. They are expecting the Fort Myers location to be about one-third of that size. For comparison, Fort Myers Brewing Company brews 12,000 barrels per year.
Their New York location does not have a rock climbing facility. The Fort Myers location would be the flagship for that.
