Updated 7.12.24 Sugarshack Downtown has officially started the hiring process and will be announcing a VIP soft opening date soon, according to their Facebook page. Here are a few photo updates of the construction progress, and a rendering of the stage.
Sugarshack Downtown is located at the corner of Old 41 Road and Childers Street in Downtown Bonita Springs.
Updated 6.21.23 The Sugarshack announced today that they will be partnering with Maine-Based Brewery, Brickyard Hollow, to bring craft beers and artisan eats to their new music venue in Downtown Bonita Springs.
The lot has been cleared but the builder stayed true to their promise of incorporating the beautiful, mature oak trees into the design! A new metal roof, new doors and windows have since been added to the former Volkswagon Mechanic Shop.

Sugarshack Sessions began in 2014 as a digital music series that features acoustic sessions recorded in a backyard, right here in Bonita Springs. Sugarshack sessions are now just one of many programs offered by the Sugarshack Music Channel. Over the past 9 years, Sugarshack has grown into a media production company and creative studio for local, emerging, and nationally-recognized bands. In 2019, they launched their independent record label Sugarshack Records.
Sugarshack Downtown
Now, Sugarshack is planning to bring a live music venue and multiple restaurants to Downtown Bonita Springs with Sugarshack Downtown. Construction began on the Sugarshack music venue at the corner of Childers Street and Old 41 Road. This project plans to incorporate the vacant building that stands on Old 41 into a 21,000 SF music venue with a stage, two covered bars, 12 bathrooms, 318 seats, a retail store, and a full-scale restaurant. Project leaders are currently seeking a restaurant operating partner for the site.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Kennedy, the builder that is teaming up with Sugarshack to bring this project, and a few others, to life in Downtown Bonita Springs. He let us know the backstory behind this historic building. It has been a few different automotive shops since it was built in 1941. Most recently, it serviced Volkswagons until the owner passed away 15 years ago. It has sat vacant ever since.
Mr. Kennedy’s team lugged out tons of old engines and transmissions from the old shop after they bought it in August for $830,000. They were able to salvage some old signage that they plan to incorporate into the venue. The builder plans on putting a new metal roof on the structure but incorporating the historic elements into the design. He also plans to keep the beautiful, mature trees that shade the lot.
