Alligator Bay Distillery Coming to Downtown Bonita Springs

  • Reading time:2 mins read

Alligator Bay Distillery, formally of  Punta Gorda, is making the move to Downtown Bonita Springs.

Alligator Bay Distillery was founded in 2015 by Alexander and Benjamin Voss. The pair began distilling traditional handcrafted rums & whiskey that would go on to win awards. Their motto for their rum is “Cane to Bottle.” It is made from 100% Floridian black strap molasses which is locally sourced from Clewiston, Florida. True to their traditional ways, they double distill their rum in an old-fashioned copper pot still and finish in a copper pot column still. Their hooch whiskey is single-distilled in a copper pot column still. They offer a variety of rums but their most popular is their white rum which won the 2022 Silver Medal at the World Spirits Competition.

After Alexander’s home was impacted by the storm surge of Hurricane Ian, the brothers decided to make the most out of a bad situation and start a new chapter. Now, Alligator Bay Distillery is getting ready to make Downtown Bonita Springs their new home. The brothers are expecting their LDO (Limited Development Order) in the next couple of weeks and construction is set to follow soon after. Their new location will be on Old 41 Road, across from Benson’s Grocery and next to the old Dixxie Moon Cafe near the North end of Riverside Park. Their proposed elevation has a very “Old Florida” feel which we think will fit in perfectly with our city’s small-town, historic charm.

Their Punta Gorda location featured a tasting room with craft cocktails, and we are expecting to see the same here in Bonita Springs.
