The Whale FMB, a beloved restaurant on Fort Myers Beach, announced its projected opening date this week. The rebuild is underway and the owners hope to open by the Summer of 2025.

In 2022, Dawn Miller and Greg Von Krumreig bought The Whale FMB which sat next to 7/11, across from the Lani Kai, on Fort Myers Beach. Just months later, the restaurant was washed away by the 15+ ft storm surge caused by the storm. The iconic restaurant was reduced to a pile of rubble.

Like many other business owners on Fort Myers Beach, the owners had to be resilient and creative. By April, they re-opened under a temporary tent. They opened a bar, offered a full live music schedule, and welcomed a variety of food trucks to give the locals a place to hang out while everyone began their rebuild.

After working with the city to approve a variance, the design for their rebuild was approved. Fowler Construction and Design, Moore and Spence Architects, and Benson & Associates Interior Design are all working together to bring this design to life. The three-story structure will feature multiple bars and seating options on all three levels.
