After nearly 10 months, the Naples Pier reopens after repairs were made due to the damage from Hurricane Irma.
When Irma swept through Southwest Florida with wind speeds of 120 miles per hour, it took about half of Naples Pier with it. The end of the pier was ripped completely off, essentially turning it into a massive diving board with no safety rails. Consequently, the end of the pier was closed to the public while the repairs were made.
After barricades were installed, safety officials gave an estimated completion date of September of 2019.
Fortunately, the pier is now reopened nearly 2 months ahead of schedule!
