Flights are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.\n Who can fly? Young Eagles Flights are for youth ages 8–17. Eagles Flights are for 18+.\n Founded in 1992\, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17 an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. It’s the only program of its kind\, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation.\n What will the pre-flight be like?The pilot will explain what your child will see and do. This may include explaining how airplanes work\, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map)\, and describing the interior of the airplane\, including the instrument panel. Then comes the fun part: time to go flying!\n Safety RemindersSafety is always a top priority when it comes to aviation. Listen and follow instructions given by that pilot\, stay away from the propellers\, and stay with the pilot or ground crew at all times. Do not enter the ramp area unescorted.\n What will the flight be like?Young Eagles will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives!\nMeet the PilotThe pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible. Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada. Flights are conducted according to federal regulations\, and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed. A pilot’s complete youth protection training and vetted via a background check.

DESCRIPTION:Lee County invites the community to celebrate the replacement of Lee County’s Fort Myers Beach Pier with a groundbreaking at 10 a.m. Friday\, Aug. 21. \nThe event will happen in the adjacent Crescent Beach Family Park\, which recently reopened at 1100 Estero Blvd. and affords a view of the pier site. The park is near the base of the Matanzas Pass Bridge and Times Square. There is no onsite event parking. Attendees are encouraged to walk\, cycle or ride LeeTran. \nThe official groundbreaking event will include brief remarks from Lee County Commissioners\, other officials and Lee County staff.
