Sizzle Dining Returns to SWFL
Sizzle Dining is making its way back to Southwest Florida on September 7th and runs through September 27th! This three-week-long event celebrates our local cuisine and flourishing culinary industry while giving back to the community in a significant way.
The Story & Visionary Behind Sizzle Dining
Sizzle Dining began in 2016 when it was formally known as restaurant week. It has grown substantially year after year, thanks to Sizzle’s founder, Guy Clarke. Guy has used his own love of food to benefit SWFL in a big way. He has worked hard to turn Sizzle Dining into the exceptional event it is today. Last year, 48 different restaurants across SWFL participated in the event. This year, Sizzle is smashing its previous record with almost 100 participating restaurants!
Each year, local restaurants create mouth-watering prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus that highlight their chef’s impressive culinary skills. The menus are offered at affordable prices to encourage visitors to try a variety of local restaurants. This year, all participating restaurants are offering 3-course dinners for either $39 or $49 per person. Some restaurants will also offer 2-course lunches starting at just $19! This event helps drum up business for our local restaurants during a typically slow month here in SWFL, and so much more.
#DineWithPurpose
78,000 elementary school children are considered “food insecure” in SWFL
On top of the much-needed boost to our local culinary industry, Sizzle Dining gives back to the community in an even more impactful way. For every meal purchased, restaurant owners donate $1 of their proceeds to Blessings in a Backpack. This amazing organization works to provide food on the weekends for school-aged children across SWFL who might otherwise go hungry.
Though most children are fed through federal government programs during school hours, there are over 100 weekend days per year when many children will go hungry.
Blessings in a Backpack will be serving over 7,100 children weekend meals this upcoming school in Lee, Collier, Hendry, and most recently, Charlotte Counties.
Over the past two years, Sizzle has raised over $40,000 for Blessings in a Backpack. That equates to over 30,000 hunger-free weekends for more than 400 children. With your help this year, we can feed even more children across SWFL.
